New Delhi, April 16: Accusing the Government of “mismanagement” and “carelessness” in maintaining wheat and rice buffer stocks, the BJP today demanded setting up of a parliamentary committee to investigate the status of wheat lying in open in FCI go-downs.
“Today several lakhs of metric tonne of wheat is rotting in FCI go-downs where it is kept in open…while on the one hand people are dying of hunger, the UPA government is allowing wheat and rice to get rotten,” former BJP president Rajnath Singh told reporters here.
Demanding setting up of a parliamentary committee to investigate the status of food grains lying in open, Singh said he would raise the issue in Lok Sabha on Monday.
“I demand that the Government explain its irresponsible and corrupt behaviour,” he said.
“During my visit to various go-downs in Haryana today, I have collected samples of rotting food grains.
