Sangareddy, March 29: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) senior leader Bandaru Dattatreya said their party was against religion-based reservations.
If Muslims are being provided reservation basing on their backwardness, then similar people of all castes should also be provided reservation, he demanded. He alleged that the Congress government was providing religion-based quota only with an eye on vote bank.
The BJP leader was in Sangareddy today to monitor the party’s signature campaign against spiralling prices of essentials. He visited all wards in the town.
Later, speaking to newspersons, he said their party was not against quota to Muslims but was against reservation for vote bank.
The BJP will fight against religion-based quota, he said.
Dattatreya condemned the Congress State affairs incharge and Union Law Minister Veerappa Moily’s statement that it was “unfortunate” for The BJP, he claimed, respects law and it is for the same reason that Modi deposed before SIT.
Modi is not guilty, he said.
On the issue of separate Telangana, Dattatreya said the Srikrishna Committee was illegal and that separate State could not be formed by its recommendations.
He predicted that the Committee would recommend against carving out of separate State. He demanded that the Congress Government check the rising prices of essentials and lessen burden on common man.
