BJP Adopting Dual Standards On T: Kamalakar Flays Bandaru Remarks

Hyderabad, July 19: Condemning the criticism made by the BJP senior leader, Mr Bandaru Dattatreya, in his open letter against the PCC Chief and the Congress party’s nominee, Mr D Srinivas in Nizamabad Urban constituency, the PCC official spokesperson and MLC, Mr B Kamalakar Rao, said that the people would answer the BJP leader in the by-elections.

Speaking to the media at Gandhi Bhavan here on Sunday, Mr Kamalakar Rao said that the BJP, which speaks of separate Telangana now had deceived the people of the region during the erstwhile NDA regime by forming only three states. “It was not proper to Mr Dattatreya to criticise Mr D Srinivas in foul language”, he bemoaned.

If the BJP was sincere about the Telangana cause, why didn’t Mr G. Kishan Reddy resign and only allowed Mr Laxminarayana to resign? The BJP was adopting double standards on the Telangana issue, he added.
Succumbing to the pressure mounted by the TDP, the BJP-led NDA government had failed to carve out Telangana state while granting statehood to three States, he said, adding that both the BJP and TDP were the deceivers of the Telangana people and were now doubting the sincerity of the Congress party which supported the NDA government for the formation of three new states.

Turning his guns at the TDP Chief, Mr N Chandrababu Naidu, Mr Kamalakar Rao said that Mr Naidu has to remember that the Babli project contractor was none other than his party MP, Mr Nama Nageshwar Rao. “The TDP leaders have chosen to visit the Babli project after completion of all works because the contractor was Mr Nama Nageshwar Rao. Now, they were enacting dramas in order to save their deposits in the ensuing by-elections, he added.

The PCC general secretary, Mr G. Niranjan, said that the TRS Chief KCR’s fight was not for Telangana but for his political survival. The people have to cast their votes to the Congress party if they want separate Telangana State, he said, reiterating that Telangana state would be possible only with the Congress and not with the TRS and BJP.

Mr Niranjan said that the PCC Chief would take up the Telangana issue strongly with the UPA chairperson if he wins the by-election. The historic December 9 announcement of the Centre was because of the tireless efforts of Mr Srinivas.

The Congress senior leaders Mr Narasimha Reddy and Mr A Shyam Mohan were also present.
