BJP accuses Congress of placing obstacles in nation’s growth

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP) on Wednesday accused the Congress party of placing obstacles in the nation’s growth and said the opposition was running away from discussion to hide the truth.

Minister of State for Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Pratap Rudy said that the issue of External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj is a pretext for Congress to oppose GST Bill

“The country now knows what the truth is….We are now convinced that Sushma Swaraj issue was a pretext, Congress just wants to place obstacles in nation’s growth…It is very worrisome that entire monsoon session was disrupted,” Rudy said.

Meanwhile, Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore criticised the Congress for staging a walkout from the Parliament.

“It is an old habit of the Congress, they feel that only they should be heard….They did not participate in the discussion because want to hide the truth. They are running away from the truth, that is why when Jaitley ji started to speak, they left the House,” he said.

Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge had earlier in the day remained firm on his party’s demand for the resignation of Swaraj, as the debate finally commenced on the Lalit Modi row that has led to a paralysis of parliament for almost a month.

The senior Congress leader also appealed to Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan for the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi during the discussion. (ANI)
