The Bharatiya Janata Party on Sunday alleged that Hyderabad City Police was harassing the innocent youth by registering false cases against them.
Addressing a press conference at the State party office at Nampally, former minister Bandaru Dattatreyya said that the four youth who were arrested on the charges of inciting violence in Madannapet and Saidabad areas were arrested in another case by the city police immediately after their release on bail. He said the youth, after their release, were scheduled to address a press conference to expose the atrocities of the City Police on them.
However, Dattatreyya said that the youth were arrested by the City Police in other cases. One of the accused, Nagaraju, has been falsely implicated in a murder case of 2010.
BJP Hyderabad City president Venkat Reddy alleged that the City Police has registered a false case against him and he, along with six others, has been shown as an absconding accused in the FIR. Furnishing the details, he said in the year 2010, the Afzalgunj Police Station has registered a case under section 143, 147, 109, 149 and section 153-A of the IPC. TDP corportator Thakur Raja Singh is the main accused in the case. However, the City Police has named seven more persons including VHP leader Dharmendra Acharya as accused and they have been shown as absconding in the records.
While claiming that the charges against him were false, Venkat Reddy said he never went absconding and was very much present in the city. He said he was only standing beside VHP leader Dharmendra Acharya, who has been charged of making a provocative speech near Chatrinaka in the year 2010.
The BJP leader demanded that the State Government order a probe into the case and stop harassment of youth. (INN)
