Bitta demands CBI probe into attack on UP minister

Allahabad, July 15: Describing the bomb attack on a Uttar Pradesh minister here as “political terrorism”, All India Anti Terrorist Front chairman Maninder Singh Bitta today demanded a CBI inquiry into the case.

“This (CBI inquiry) will facilitate speedy investigation and the process will not get caught up in trading of charges between the Centre and the state,” he said.

Bitta said criminalisation of politics in the state are responsible for such acts.

“The murky politics of the state has led to a situation where even ministers are not safe. The blast outside the residence of Nand Gopal Gupta Nandi was an act of political terrorism for which criminalisation of politics is responsible,” Bitta told reporters here.

On Monday, Nandi, the minister for institutional finance, was critically injured in a blast outside his residence, which two security guards dead and five others injured.
