The Congress Party on Monday said that if relatives of the late Shehnai maestro Bismillah Khan have declined a request to propose Narendra Modi’s candidature from Varanasi, it was an indication of the degreee of love that Muslims have for the latter.
“Everybody has a right to say yes or no. They don’t want to be proposers for Modi, so they declined,” said Congress leader Meem Afzal.
“Now, Modi has got a glimpse of how much love Muslims have for him,” he added.
According to reports, the late shehnai maestro’s son, Zamin Husain, was approached by the BJP for being a proposer for Modi, but he refused, claiming that his family has never taken any sides as far as politics is concerned. (ANI)
