Biopic on Rocky Johnson in the works

Washington: Toronto-based filmmakers Jonathan and Justin Gajewski are developing ‘Ring King’, a biopic of Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s father, Rocky Johnson.

The Gajewski twins will produce the biopic via their JG Brothers production banner after completing earlier assistant director credits on a host of movies and TV series shot in Toronto, including ‘Suicide Squad’, reported The Hollywood Reporter.

“We are very excited to bring Rocky Johnson’s incredible story to the world,” Jonathan and Justin Gajewski said in a statement.

During his wrestling career, Johnson became a National Wrestling Alliance (NWA) Georgia Champion and an NWA Southern Heavyweight Memphis Champion, as well as winning many other championships. Along with his partner Tony Altas, he was a part of the first black tag team to win the World Tag Team Championship in the World Wrestling Federation (WWF).

Rocky Johnson retired from the wresting ring in 1991 and was announced as an inductee for the 2008 class of the WWE Hall of Fame on February 25, 2008.
