Hyderabad, September 23: The first annual BIO India International Partnering Conference concluded here today. The two-day event, which witnessed participation of about 800 companies including 250 firms from the US and Europe, is likely to increase the scale of the summit next year.
Biotechnology Industry Organisation (BIO) brings together biotechnology and pharmaceutical companies from North America, Europe and Asia to meet and explore business opportunities with India’s emerging biotech sector.
“During our annual BIO conference in Chicago last year, we received over 4,300 requests to meet and interact with Indian companies. Sensing the need, we zeroed in on Hyderabad to hold BIO India for the next four years,” said Alan F Eisenberg, executive vice president, Emerging Companies & Business Development, BIO.
He said that over 755 one-to-one interactions between investors, large biotech and pharmaceutical companies and emerging Indian biotech companies happened during the two-day conference. Several companies including Biocon Ltd., Dr Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd., Novo Nordisk, Wockhardt Ltd., Aurigene Discovery Technologies Ltd., and Connexios Life Sciences participated in the conference.
