Kalyani (WB), February 10: Anasuya Sen, mother of Civil Rights’ activist, Binayak Sen, today broke down on hearing the Chhattisgarh High Court’s ruling rejecting the bail plea of her son, sentenced to life imprisonment by a sessions court on charges of sedition and links with Naxalites.
Reacting to the High Court’s ruling, the 85-year-old Anasuya Sen wept, saying “I only know that my son is the best in my mother land.”
She claimed that the Chhattisgarh government had “hatched a conspiracy from the very beginning to keep my son, Binayak, behind bars.”
Goutam Sen, the brother of Binayak Sen, a well known paediatrician, said the family would file an appeal in the Supreme Court challenging the High Court’s decision.
He said Elina Sen, the wife of Binayak Sen, would talk to lawyers for filing the appeal.
