On early Thursday morning, a bike rider smash his vehicle into the parapet of Hebbal flyover and fell to his death 30 feet below. The victim was identified as Joseph Gerald, 23, died of head injuries at M S Ramaiah Hospital and his friend Sunil Subramanya, 24, who was riding pillion, suffered severe injuries.
Gerald was a resident of Chikkabanavara and Subramanya were working at a private company near Shanthinagar. Subramanya had joined the firm just four days ago. The duo were on their way to Mattikere to wish a friend on his birthday at midnight when the accident occurred.
According to police, Gerald was overspeeding and rammed his bike into the flyover wall. While Gerald fell down on the road central median, Subramanya landed on a garbage heap. Both were rushed to hospital where Gerald breathe his last early Thursday morning. Subramanya’s condition is said to be critical.
He might have been under the influence of some narcotic substance, said the Doctors at the M S Ramaiah Hospital, who conducted an autopsy on Gerald’s body.
