Health Minister Dr C Lakshma Reddy today said that the government will soon launch “Bike Ambulances” to help injured get treatment at narrow places and spots wherein four-wheeler ambulances cannot move freely. He also said that “Amma Vodi” (Mother’s Lap) ambulances will be launched at Peoples Plaza on Dec 28 for safe shifting of Mother, child and their family members after delivery from the hospitals. He distributed a few bikes to field level staff of health department to create awareness among TB patients at Necklace Road here. On the occasion he said that Bike ambulances will prove handy as they can easily reach out to narrow streets and bylanes in Hyderabad wherein the four wheelers cannot move easily the minister maintained. Besides launching the bike ambulances at remote and agency areas it was also decided to increase the ambulance services to shift the bodies of the deceased to their homes. So far we have shifted about 12000 bodies in recent times and there is good response from public he said. The government will press in 30 more ambulance services in addition to 50 existing vehicles, he added. (NSS)
