Bihar’s bad roads irk a Supreme Court judge

Patna, August 24: A Supreme Court judge has joined thousands of others in expressing his anger at the poor condition of roads in Bihar, official sources said here Monday.

Justice Aftab Alam was irked by a bad road while visiting his native village Kunda in Bihar’s Shekhpura district.

Alam expressed his resentment over the bad state of roads and the slow pace of construction of the Barbhigha-Shekhpura-Lakhisarai main road.

‘Bad roads in his home district Shekhpura shocked Alam, who immediately called district officials as well as construction company officials and asked them to expedite the construction work,’ an official said.

Till a few years ago, Bihar was notorious for the poor state of its roads. In the last three and a half years, the government led by Nitish Kumar has given priority to road construction, but many roads remain in deplorable state.
