Patna, February 22: A rally means a cultural extravaganza of sorts, and essentially a dance to go with it. Or, so thought JD(U) MLA Shyam Bahadur Singh. He organized a dance programme at his official residence to entertain the people coming from his constituency, Ziradei in Bihar’s Siwan district, for the ‘Mahadalit’ rally.
Singh, a low-profile legislator from the Assembly seat earlier represented by the high-profile Mohd Shahabuddin, brought over about half-a-dozen girls and presented them before the audience. As the girls in colourful, but skimpy outfits danced and the crowd clapped, the middle-aged MLA, apparently drunk, too, shook a leg.
Wearing shirt and trousers, the bare-footed Singh snatched a pair of ‘jhal’ (cymbals) and banged them together whenever he got tired of dancing and made indecent moves.
