Pune: In a joint operation, Bihar and Maharashtra Anti Terror Squad (ATS) have arrested one person for his alleged connections with Islamic State Bangladesh (ISBD) terrorist group here on Thursday. The arrest was made in Chakan area of Pune.
The arrested, Shariyat Mandal has been accused of establishing links with two Bangladeshi nationals, who were earlier arrested for recruiting ISBD terrorist group.
The security agencies have alleged that Mandal was continuously in touch with two accused arrested earlier by ATS namely Abu Sultan and Khairul Mandal. He was involved in the recruitment of cadres for ISBD terrorist group.
The accused was produced in Pune session court earlier on Thursday and has been sent to Bihar on transit remand. He will be produced in Bihar court since the case is being investigated by Bihar ATS.
Earlier on March 25, police arrested two suspected terrorists Khairul Mandal and Abu Sultan accused of being affiliated with Jamiat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh and Islamic State Bangladesh in Patna. The arrest was made by the Anti-Terrorism Squad team of Bihar Police.
