An 84 member strong fishermen contingent from Bihar and Jharkhand states arrived here on Monday for a 10 day training and exposure visit to the National Fisheries Development Board (NFDB) on best management practices, culture, processing and marketing aspects.
Union Minister of Agriculture Radha Mohan facilitated the exposure visit of the farmers to the National Fisheries Development Board for training and creating awareness on various aspects to fish culture. The farmers met the chief executive of NFDB and director general of NIRD Dr.M.V.Rao and interacted with him on the fish culture practices in their states. They were also told of the multiple fisheries schemes which NFDB is promoting and how they could partner with the later in popularizing pisiculture and prawn farming in their states.
They also visited the NIRD Rural Technology Park and evinced lot of interest in the solar de-hydrators, solar freezers and also on making compressed mud blocks and also in smokeless chulas-cum-rice and curry steam cookers. (INN)
