Bihar: Dr. Ashok Kumar saves 70 Muslim kids during Ram Navami riots

SAMASTIPUR: Setting an example of communal harmony, a Hindu doctor saves lives of at least 70 Muslims by giving shelter in his home during the recent communal riots in Bihar.

The violence broke out on 25 March over Ram Navami procession and rapidly spread across other districts of Bihar for almost five days.

On 27th March at Rosara village of Samastipur, an unruly mob of over 3,000 youngsters barged into the the Ziya-ul-uloom Madarsa where 70-80 students were studying and destroyed everything.

Children and staff members rushed to the Ashok Kumar Mishra’s home which is adjacent to the madarsa and take refuge where he asked them to calm down and assured us of safety.

“As we saw the mob coming to our madarsa from a distance. I along with other staff members, rapidly pushed children upstairs,” said Maulana Nazir Ahmed Nazvi while recalling the unfortunate day adding that the miscreants would have killed them if their next door neighbour was not there, reported Newsclick.

Maulana appreciated Dr. Mishra and was thankful to him for his humanitarian assistance at the time of crisis.

Dr. Mishra said that it was his duty to keep humanity above all. The satisfaction he felt on that day as he calms down the kids and assured them of safety is his reward.
