Bihar DGP orders enquiry into chaining of 11-yr-old girl

Patna, August 27: The national Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) took note of a Headlines Today exposé about an 11-year-old girl who was kept chained for over two weeks by her parents near Bihar capital Patna.

The girl was allegedly sexually exploited by a photographer and a fisherman who filmed their sexual escapades.

Member of the child rights body Sandhya Bajaj said a notice will be sent to the Bihar government to take action against the parents. Bajaj reacted after Headlines Today aired the story on the child’s plight.

The girl claimed that she has been sexually exploited for nearly three months. The photographer, Shamsahd, lured her into blue films by promising her money and marriage in return for the pictures.

Her parents claimed they had no choice but to allow the girl to be exploited due to their poverty.

With the matter now in public eye, the Bihar DGP ordered an inquiry into the incident. But while the inquiry takes place, not only the accused continues to be a free man, the girl’s future also remains uncertain.
