Patna, September 03: Rajni Devi, wife of Sub-Inspector Abhay Prasad Yadav, reportedly killed by Maoist rebels in captivity, had been camping with her four minor children outside the CM residence for two days after meeting Nitish Kumar on Tuesday evening.
Just as word trickled in about Abhay’s killing, Rajni along with her children were taken by the administration to the Patna Medical College and Hospital. It is learnt that she has been kept in the hospital’s cardiology department with entry strictly banned for media.
Rajni, wife of the 45-year-old Abhay from Manikpur police station under Lakhisarai, had remained inconsolable, getting no word on her husband’s safety. The only consolation she got was an audio tape of her husband released by Naxals to local new channels on Wednesday. Following that, her daughters, Dhruvswamini, Shalini and Minakshi and son Anand Shankar, all minors, had made an impassioned plea to the Maoists through the media to release their father.
The blow to the family on Thursday has triggered panic among the families of the other three policemen abducted by the Maoists on Sunday. The Maoists have been demanding release of eight Naxalites from police custody in exchange for their release. The rebels have now extended their deadline to 10 am on Friday.
Manju Sinha, the mother of SI Rupesh Kumar Sinha, a resident of Betia and only son of a retired circle officer, was admitted to the PMCH two days.
SI Nutan Sinha at Town Police station of Lakhisarai, who is Rupesh’s friend, said: “I had called up Rupesh around 2.30 pm on Sunday, five hours after he had left for the anti-Naxal operation. Somebody else received the call. He did not answer my concerns.” Nutan later found Rupesh’s phone switched off.
Rupesh, 28, and Nutan had got their first posting in Lakhisarai in March this year after getting training at Bhagalpur.
Meanwhile, the families of Jamadar Lucas Tete and Havildar Ehsan Ahmed, of BMP-10, have started for Patna from Jharkhand on hearing the news of the SI’s killing.
An hour before he was taken hostage, Lucas had talked to his wife Payari, who lives in Simdega with their three daughters. “I could hear the sound of firing while he talked to me. We hope he returns safe,” she said.
Ehsan’s wife Fareeda lives in Ranchi’s Mander block with their two daughters and two sons. “In Ramzan, the Maoists should release him. Otherwise we will be ruined, ” she said.
