Patna, April 06: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar today felicitated kabbadi player Smita Kumari, who won a gold medal in the 2010 Asian Games as part of the Indian women’s team.
Kumar gave a cheque of Rs 11 lakh to Smita at a function here for her outstanding contribution and winning the gold.
Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said her contribution would always be remembered and urged the youths to take an inspiration from her in the field of kabbadi.
State Art and Culture Minister Sukhda Pandey and department’s principal secretary K P Ramaiah were also present.
Smita, aged 27, had played a pivotal role in the semi-final match against the Iran team enabling India to win a gold medal for women’s kabaddi.
Smita started playing the game at local level when she was in Class VI.
