Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao today declared that Warangal town would be developed on par with the Hyderabad city and the government would also set up a biggest Textile park and special development authority to accelerate development.
Addressing the media here on Wednesday after a review on welfare and development programs on his third day stay in the city, the Chief Minister declared that some 30,000 houses would be built for the poor and make Warangal a slum free city in two years which includes two per cent houses to ex-service men. He said wives of ex-servicemen will get free registration of the houses they own and 12-storied Police Commissionerate Complex would be built.
The Chief Minister said Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu offered to help the State government to construct underground drainage system as part of Swatchch Bharat. The district Collector has already allotted Rs 100 crore for the Textile Park that will come up with importable products to increase productivity and offer jobs to thousands of youths. Coming up in 2,000 to 3000 acres, the Textile Park will manufacture products such as cotton to garments, he added.
The Chief Minister said his government was determined to develop the city to cater to the future needs of people whose population may grow by 4.5 lakh in three to four years, KCR said. He said the lakes in the district will be revived under Mission Kakatiya, connect Devadula project to Ramappa temple tank and Laknavaram lake will be developed into a tourist spot. Directing the officials to speed up Mission Bhagiratha and Mission Kakatiya works, KCR said the Mid-Maner project will be filled by next June and Godavari waters will be supplied to four segments by April 30 this year. He also assured to construct new buildings for government offices, schools and outer ring road and set up Dance and Music School.
Stating that Warangal will be made into an Educational Hub, KCR announced setting up of a Sainik School, Delhi Public School, Hyderabad Public School and foundation stone would be laid for health varsity during his next tour. He also said it was decided to set up veterinary college, agriculture college, tribal varsity by next year. (NSS)
