Union Textiles Minister Kavuri Sambasiva Rao today said he would cooperate with the Centre in the formation of Telangana State if the latter agreed to his amendments to Telangana Bill.
Addressing a media conference after a meeting with Seemandhra MPs on “Parliament incident” which was dubbed as an affront to Parliamentary democracy by all political parties, Kavuri said State bifurcation is not only bad for the State but also to the nation.
He said he would cooperate with the Centre to some extent on bifurcation issue if his amendments of making Hyderabad a Union Territory for 10 years, merger of Anantapur and Kurnool in Telangana and inclusion of Bhadrachalam into residuary State of Andhra Pradesh. If the division is unavoidable, it must be done in an amiable and conducive atmosphere, he said. Stating that Parliament incident should not have taken place, Kavuri said whatever some MPs have done, it was under a compulsion.
Division of any State needs some formulated policies and guidelines, he said and how it will go ahead with bifurcation without any scientific basis.
He found fault with the Centre for ignoring the Assembly resolution rejecting the bifurcation. How the Centre can opt for dividing the State without any concern to Seemandhra agitations and aspirations to keep the State undivided, he asked. “I have been opposing the Bill when it was introduced as a table item.
He said the Seemandhra leaders cannot accept bifurcation as Telangana ministers are opposing some of the recommendations made by Group of Ministers.
