Biden heads to Mideast for talks on security, Syria, Iran

Washington: Vice President Joe Biden is heading to the Middle East for a visit that won’t focus on the flare-up of violence between the Palestinians and Israelis.

The White House says Biden’s trip to United Arab Emirates, Israel and Jordan will include talks with key leaders on US economic and energy interests, as well as security concerns about Iran and Syria.

But Biden will not bring any initiative on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The White House has said it does not believe either side has the political will to revive the peace process.
