Bid to acquire Dargah Hazrat Hakeem Shah Baba continued

Hyderabad, September 7: Dargah of Hazrat Syed Nizamuddin Ahmed Jeelani is located at Hakeempet hills. There was a time when 200 acre dargah land existed but today only 9 acre remained. Land grabbers encroach upon the land and sell it at higher rates. A road connects the dargah to Apollo hospital Jubilee Hills. Hakeem sahib inhabited at the foot of the hills on whose name the locality Hakeempet was inhabited. The actual name of the hill was “Jabal Noor” which was later changed into Jubilee Hills.

Waqf board officials yesterday visited dargah Hazrat Shah Baba to review the land. The waqf land of the dargah was 200 acre which was previously allotted to Jubilee Hills housing society and Film Nagar Housing society. Rock garden was constructed on 70 acre land. 9 acre of the dargah land remains which is also being tried to encroached upon. It remains to be seen what measures does the Waqf board adopt.
