Perth : Indian pacer Mohammed Shami has been ruled of the upcoming ODI series against Australia due to hamstring injury.
Confirming the news, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) said in a statement that Shami, who suffered a Grade II injury to his left hamstring, would be sidelined from the game for four to six weeks, ESPNcricinfo reported.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar will now replace injured Shami in the ODI squad for the Australia series.
Shami, who was the second-highest wicket-taker for India during the World Cup with 17 wickets, had not bowled in the opening warm-up T20 against Western Australia XI in Perth.
India, which claimed a 3-0 win in the recently concluded Test series against South Africa, will aim to continue their winning momentum when they will take on Australia in a five-match ODI series, starting from January 12 in Perth. (ANI)
