Hyderabad, January 18: An eight-member delegation of Bhutan Health Ministry led by the country’s Health Minister Lyonpo Zangley Dupka called on Chief Minister K Rosaiah today. The team was visiting the State to study the innovative health scheme Arogyasri and 108 and 104 services.
Speaking on the occasion the Chief Minister said that nearly seven crore people of the State were being benefited by these services. About eight to nine States in the country were trying to replicate them, he said.
The Rajiv Arogyasri programme was the brainchild of former chief minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy and it is gaining popularity day-by-day and attracting the attention of developing nations, Rosaiah told the visiting delegation. About Rs 689 crore was spent last year and 196 cochlear surgeries were performed under the programme, he said.
The delegation’s leader Dupka said that they have visited Devar Yamjal in the outskirts of the City and were impressed by the health services being provided through 104 mobile services.
They were surprised to note that the corporate hospitals were providing treatment to the poor free of cost under Aarogyasri.
