Mumbai : After the Maharashtra Anti- Corruption Bureau (ACB) filed a chargesheet against former state PWD minister Chhagan Bhujbal in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan construction scam, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader on Friday accused the police of conspiring with his enemies to target him and his family members.
Asserting that he has not violated any law, Bhujbal said that he was confident that he would be given a clean chit in this case.
“Maharashtra Sadan has been completed; it was all done with the permission of then chief minister. We are being targeted without any offence. My enemies are doing it and unfortunately some police officers are cooperating with them. Government should stop them. We have not done anything wrong, I am sure we will get a clean chit,” Bhujbal told ANI.
The Maharashtra ACB had on Wednesday filed a chargesheet in the Mumbai Sessions Court against Chhagan Bhujbal and his family members in connection with the Maharashtra Sadan construction scam.
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) had on February 1 arrested Sameer Bhujbal, the nephew of Chhagan Bhujbal, in a money laundering case in Mumbai after the agency conducted multiple searches in connection with its probe against Bhujbals and others.
The Maharashtra ACB had earlier filed two FIRs against the Bhujbals and others under the provisions of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) to probe the Delhi-based Maharashtra Sadan construction scam and the Kalina land grabbing case.
Chhagan is being investigated by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in several cases of money laundering. (ANI)
