BHEL bags Rs 2630 cr order

Tiruchirapalli, August 21: BHEL, Tiruchirapalli has bagged a Rs 2,630 crore order from Monnet Power Company Limited, Orissa, to set up two 525 MW units.

MPCL is an independent power producer (IPP) belonging to the Monnet Ispat and Energy Group.

The order is for setting up an extended Boiler Turbine Generator package, involving two new-rating units of 525 MW each at Malibrahamani in angul district in Orissa, a BHEL press release said.

Coming close on the heels of BHEL bagging an order for a 1,200 MW thermal power plant of Jindal India Thermal Power Limited in Orissa, the order “reflects the customers confidence in BHELs technological excellence and capabilities in executing projects of this magnitude,” it said.

It said private sector customers have increasingly been reposing confidence in BHEL. In the current fiscal, nearly 95 per cent of orders in the power sector are from them.

BHEL has fully established state-of-the-art technology to manufacture thermal sets upto 1,000 MW. They have also introduced new rating thermal sets of 270 MW, 525 MW and 600 MW to meet customer demand.

In fiscal 2008-09, the installed capacity of BHEL-supplied Utility sets went up to 87,646 MW and the company maintained its share of 64 per cent in India’s total installed capacity of 1,38,175 MW, the release added
