The Congress MLA from Bheemavaram of West Godavari district, P Ramanjaneyulu, joined the Telugu Desam Party here on Monday.
Ramanjaneyulu, who was elected from Beehamavaram seat in 2009 elections on Congress ticket, had quit the party after the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh. He was reportedly persuaded by former minister Ganta Srinivas Rao, to join the TDP. After having consultation with his supporters, he finally took decision to join the TDP.
Ramanjaneyulu joined the TDP on Monday in the presence of party chief N Chandrababu Naidu. According to sources, Naidu has reportedly assured him that he would be fielded as the TDP’s candidate from Bheemavaram in next elections. (INN)
