Bhaskar appeals rebels to withdraw from contest

Congress Rajya Sabha MP R Anand Bhaskar on Thursday appealed to the rebels to withdraw from the contest.

Speaking to media persons at Gandhi Bhavan here, Bhaskar admitted that injustice was done with some communities and sections in allocation of tickets. He said the Congress nominated the individuals who had the maximum winning chances. However, he said all the communities would be given adequate representation in nominated posts.

Bhaskar also accused TRS chief K Chandrasekhar Rao of cheating the protagonists of Telagnana. He said KCR never showed any respected to people including Konda Laxman Bapuji, Prof Jayashankar, Ale Narendra and Vijaya Shanti among others. He also ridiculed the TRS promise of giving 12 per cent reservation to Muslims in Telangana. He said TRS was part of the Congress Government in 2004 when it gave 4 per cent reservation to Muslims. The TRS never asked the Congress to increase the reservation percentage nor did it become a party to any case going on in the Supreme Court related to reservation.

He expressed confidence that people would vote in favour of Congress party in the ensuing elections. (INN)
