NEW DELHI: Banking services across the country are likely to be hit on Wednesday (January 8) as several bank employee unions deciding to join nation-wide strike or ‘Bharat Bandh‘.
As per the order by the bank unions, branches of various banks may remain shut on Wednesday as the employees and officers will be on a day-long strike to protest against the the ruling government’s “anti-people” policies.
The State Bank of India also released a statement informing the customers about the strike.
According to the statement by State Bank of India, very few of its employees will be participating in the strike so the impact on Banks operation will be minimal.
On the other hand, the Bank of Baroda fears that its operations could be hit by the strike.
Trade unions INTUC, AITUC, HMS, CITU, AIUTUC, TUCC, SEWA, AICCTU, LPF, UTU will be taking part of the strike and expect participation of not less than 25 crore of working people.
In several places, ATM services are also likely to be impacted.
