Bharat Band: UP CM Yogi appeals to maintain law and order in the state

New Delhi: Amidst massive protests in UP against dilution of SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities Act following Apex Court’s order, UP CM Yogi on Monday has appealed the public to maintain peace in the state after violence broke out in many areas in Uttar Pradesh.

Assuring the public, Yogi said, “The central and state governments are dedicated towards the welfare of backward castes, SC & ST. I appeal to all to not disturb the law and order, if at all there are any issues, you can bring them to the government’s notice.”

Massive protests in various states other than UP has been witnessed calling for Bharat Bandh, Zee News reported.

Meanwhile, in Agra, the protest turned violent when police personnel tried to contain the situation. While cars and buses have been torched in Meerut and Hapur. Trains were halted in Bihar and many protestors took to streets in Delhi to demonstrate protest against modification of the SC/ST ACT.
