Hyderabad, October 28: Senior IAS officer Bhanwar Lal has been appointed as the Chief Electoral Officer of Andhra Pradesh while his predecessor I V Subba Rao has been posted to the central services.
Lal is currently working as Principal Secretary for Home, where he was appointed just a month ago.
Born on October 25 1957, Bhanwar Lal is a 1983 batch IAS officer of AP cadre.
He holds his Masters degree in Economics from University of Rajasthan and MBA from University of Birmingham, UK. Starting his career in the IAS as Sub-Collector and Sub Divisional Magistrate at Kandukur, he served at various levels in many government departments and even served as the district collector of Karimnagar and Hyderabad districts.
Other positions Lal held were managing director of AP State Non Resident Indian Investment Corporation, Project Coordinator of Central Silk Board and Commissioner of Civil Supplies. Lal made substantial contribution towards welfare of labour in the unorganized sector, imparting market demanding skills to unemployed youth.
