Hyderabad, January 28: Investigators probing the murder of faction leader G Suryanarayana Reddy alias Suri believe that the prime suspect Bhanu Kiran alias Bhanu stayed on the outskirts of New Delhi for nearly 10 days after killing Suri.
This came to light after the Central Crime Station (CCS) sleuths nabbed Bhanu’s associate and gunman, Manmohan Singh recently.
After grilling Manmohan Singh, police came to know that Bhanu met Manmohan Singh at Kukatpally along with another person, identified as Loknath, after Suri’s killing. Manmohan Singh claimed that he was not aware of Suri’s killing. “Bhanu asked me to pack my clothes as we are going out of the city for some days,” Manmohan Singh reportedly told the police.
The trio reportedly left to Sholapur where Loknath left them. From Sholapur, the duo went to Pune and then to Gwalior and finally to Gurgaon on the outskirts of Delhi.
Sources said they checked into a paying guest facility there on January 8 and stayed till January 20. “All through my stay in Gurgaon, I was not aware of Suri’s killing. Bhanu asked me not to contact anyone even my family members,’’ Manmohan told cops.
On January 19, Manmohan grew suspicious and called up his wife when he came to know that Suri was killed. According to sources, this phone call provided a vital clue to police and subsequently they nabbed him.
After coming to know that Suri was killed, Manmohan left the paying guest facility while Bhanu was asleep and went to his native place in UP. Cops picked up Manmohan days after the phone call. Sources said CCS sleuths went to Gurgaon and inquired about Bhanu. They reportedly got a confirmation that Bhanu stayed there.
Meanwhile, film producer Singanamala Ramesh, who is said to be having links with Bhanu, applied for an anticipatory bail in a city court today.
