Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd (BGL), a joint venture of GAIL (India) Ltd and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd, said today that after the recent GAIL gas pipeline blast at Nagaram in East Godavari, CNG supplies to retail outlets in Hyderabad and Kakinada have been suspended.
A press release issued by Bhagyanagar Gas Ltd, which is which is authorised to operate in Hyderabad, Vijayawada and Kakinada, said that compressed natural gas (CNG) supply from GAIL to the BGL mother station in Vijayawada is likely to continue as it is through a different pipeline.
“The disruption in supply to the extent of about 53,000 SCMD at Hyderabad and 6000 SCMD at Kakinada will result in stoppage of CNG supplies to retail outlets for motor vehicles effective immediately. However PNG (Domestic) supplies will continue to the extent of available gas in the pipeline network,” the BGL release said.
The release said that BGL would immediately inform all its valuable consumers once the supply position becomes normal and is exploring if alternative supplies are feasible.
On June 27, 15 people were killed and 18 injured when a massive blaze raged through Nagaram village in Andhra Pradesh’s East Godavari district following a blast in an apparently leaking gas pipeline.
