Hyderabad: The age old Bhagwandas Bagh baoli (step well), which was left in a dilapidated condition for over decades, has been finally cleaned and restored to its original condition.
The Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) has taken the responsibility of cleaning different step wells and restoring them. It also took up the case of Gudimalkapur based Bhagwandas Bagh stepwell cleaning and restoration works.
The HMDA also took up the cleaning works of Shiv Bagh baoli as well. Last week, principal secretary (municipal administration and urban development) Arvind Kumar, after restoration of the Bhagwandas step well said that heritage lovers can now take photographs of the step-well.
He also appealed to the residents living nearby to keep stepwells clean by not throwing any garbage in it.
Kumar further added that after the removal of tonnes of debris, the Bhagwandas stepwell is all set to be open for heritage admirers and as part of the state government’s exercise to restorate stepwells. As part of it, the HMDA is soon going to revive more than 40 step-wells.
