GHMC workers have decided to take action against people dumping garbage in open areas. To reduce open garbage dumpsites in the city, Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation has begun making colourful floral designs on dumpsites to deter people from throwing garbage at the sites. Besides that CCTV cameras are being installed to identify litter-throwing persons and action can be taken against them.
Commissioner Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation Dr. B Janardhan Reddy informed about the 100-day action plan of the GHMC. He told that the garbage will be shifted to dumping yards directly from the houses. He further revealed that the Open Garbage Vulnerable Points (GVPs) in the city have come down from 1,116 to 289, thanks to the efforts of the GHMC.
