A couple of months back, a new product showed up online from none other than the drug lord Pablo Escobar’s brother, Roberto De Jesus Escobar Gaviria.
It’s a foldable phone and you probably already know about it. Honestly, it was a little sketchy, but what you may not have known is the fact that it’s a scam. it’s just a rebranded Samsung Galaxy Fold phone but that’s not the only reason why we say it’s a scam.
Tech YouTube creator Marques Brownlee recently got his hands on the phone and revealed that it’s nothing more than just a scam. In his recent video, he shows that the Escobar Fold 2 is just a Galaxy Fold with gold stickers on top of it.
If you peel off the plastic sticker, then you can even see the Samsung branding. The OneUI software running on the phone was enough to give it away, but here’s more proof in case you didn’t believe it.
Turns out, the company is only sending out the units to prominent YouTube creators and tech bloggers around the world. So if you end up ordering the phone, then you might not get it. We doubt if they’re even shipping out the orders.
Furthermore, Marques Brownlee suggests that the company is using a Cameo service to hire celebrities to add ads for them.
