Tirupati, November 21: Taking serious objection to the state government inviting only advocates from the Andhra region but not them for holding talks on the demand for establishment of a regional bench of the High Court, the Rayalaseema Advocates Joint Action Committee(RAJAC) has warned the government of serious consequences if it does not initiate a dialogue with them also along with their counterparts from Guntur.
On coming to know from TV reports that the government invited Andhra lawyers who are demanding a High Court bench between Guntur and Vijayawada, RAJAC leaders convened an emergency meeting here this evening to chalk out their strategy for mounting pressure on the government.
Speaking to Express, RAJAC official spokesperson Samanchi Srinivas alleged that the government humiliated Rayalaseema people by not inviting lawyers from the region for talks. Sensing a conspiracy by chief minister K Rosaiah and law minister Mopidevi Venkataramana (both hail from Guntur district) in not calling them for talks, he said “It seems the government is bowing only to pressure tactics or influence.’’ It was unfortunate that the government was yielding only after violent protests and if that were the case it would have to face an unpleasant situation in the region which was notorious for bomb culture, he said.
At the same time he made it clear that they were not at all against establishment of a High Court bench at Guntur but were only keen on having a bench for Rayalaseema and urged the government to hold talks with them immediately.
