Hyderabad, March 25: Police on Thursday arrested a club operator, Rakesh Jadhav of S.R. Nagar, who was allegedly operating a cricket betting racket.
A laptop, two mobile phones and Rs. 27,580 were seized from him, the Commissioner’s Task Force (Central) Inspector, Ch.Y. Srinivas Kumar, said.
Jadhav, hailing from Maharashtra, was running Royal Club in S.R. Nagar when a person, Raju, of Bhimavaram, gave him the idea of organising betting on cricket matches to make money. As the club sank into losses, Jadhav started running the betting racket five months ago. On a tip-off that he was accepting bets on the World Cup quarter final match between India and Australia, the TF team raided his flat and caught him.
