BET Awards: Meek Mill pays tribute to XXXTentacion

Washington: American rapper Meek Mill paid tribute to rappers XXXTentacion and Jimmy Wopo, both of whom were killed during gun violence last week.

While performing his new song ‘Stay Woke’ at Sunday night’s BET Awards, the rapper wore a T-shirt with the faces of both XXX and Wopo, reported the Hollywood Reporter.

As Mill walked around a stage setup meant to mimic a dark and gloomy street, he rapped lyrics like “they taught us to hate each other before we learn how to walk,” while various scenes played out around him.
The performance ended with the image of dozen people resembling prisoners standing behind bars.

In November last year, the famous rapper was sentenced to a minimum of two years in prison.

Meek was first arrested at the age of 18 when he was caught in possession of an illegal firearm.
