Abu Dhabi, February 05: Brides to be are all a-tingle as models dressed in dazzlingly-sequinned bridal gowns and coiffured for the ‘big day’ walk the ramp at the Bride Show, Abu Dhabi.

The much-anticipated fashion show, which started on Wednesday and will run till today, is the focal point of the exhibition with fashion houses, haute couture specialists and individual designers aiming to wow the audience with their inspirational collections.

Some of the bridal gown favourites are those of the Lebanese celebrity fashion designer Tony Yaacoub, who took part in the event for the first time. His backless, figure-hugging creations scream glamour at every angle, and are simply sensational for the young brides. “My designs express glamorous emotion — taken from a woman given to a woman. My inspiration is the lady who loves to be a woman,” said Yaacoub about his stunning creations. He was speaking on the sidelines of the show.

Mona Al Mansouri’s spectacular collection with overflowing skirts and crystal embellishments befits royalty Vivian Wouters from Netherlands, an aspiring fashion designer, described the renowned Emirati fashion designer’s creations as ‘very traditional but modernised Victorian.’ “It’s your day, so you should be the centre of attraction. That day, you’re the princess and you get married only once,” she stated.

Wouters was at the show to observe the latest trends and share her ideas to two of her friends who are getting married soon.

Saaeda Ahmed, a 24-year-old Emirati was looking for ideas of her own for her upcoming nuptial. After getting engaged this month, finding the best wedding gown was on the top of her agenda.

“I want a gown that has not too much work on it. I want something simple and classic. I want everything to be nice and for me to look beautiful for the others to admire,” said the blushing bride.

She was accompanied by her future sister-in-law who was as excited at the preparation of her wedding in May.

The Bride Show Abu Dhabi is being organised by IIR Middle East.
