The Best Journalist Awards for the year 2008, 2009 and 2010 to (15) Journalists belonging to Telangana State were given away at a function organized here today by Information and Public Relations Department at its office at A.C.Guards, Hyderabad.
Participating as Chief Guest the Chairman, Media Academy of Telangana State, Allam Narayana said that the government is committed for the welfare of the Journalists and listed out various welfare measures being taken up for the Journalists in the State. He emphasized the role of the Journalists in moulding public opinion. He also hailed the role of the Journalists in achieving separate Telangana State.
The Commissioner, Information and Public Relations Department, Navin Mittal said that the awards belong to the years 2008, 2009 and 2010 which were announced way back in the year 2012 could not be given away in the combined state owing to various reasons. The Government of Telangana recognising the fact has now given away the awards to 15 Journalists belonging to Telangana State, he said. The Press, being the Fourth Estate, plays a vital role in the Society, he said. He congratulated the Awardees on the occasion.
