Bengaluru: Woman chased, shoots husband thrice in broad daylight

BENGALURU: A woman in an inebriated condition opened fire at her husband thrice in full public view after a verbal spat on the outskirts of Bengaluru on Friday.

According to reports, the couple Sai Ram M R, 53, and 48-year-old Hamsa was returning home after a visit to Hosur in Tamil Nadu. They had a lunch on the highway where they also consumed alcohol.

The altercation which broke out between the couple at the restaurant said to be continued even after they got into their car and Sair Ram allegedly punched his wife. In a fit of range, Hamsa pumped three rounds of a bullet in his abdomen.

Despite being shot, Sai Ram managed to get down from his Fortuner SUV and jumped into a BMTC bus to escape. However, his wife chased him and opened fire again at her husband in full public view. The passengers onboard the bus overpowered Hamsa and handed her over to the police.

Severely injured Sairam was rushed to a hospital nearby where he underwent surgery to remove the bullets.

Preliminary interrogation revealed that the couple had a rocky relationship. Sai Ram is the CEO of ACE Facility and Property Management operating from HSR Layout in Bengaluru.

Hamsa confessed to shooting her husband after he hit her. She has been taken into custody and was charged with attempt to murder. Further investigation is underway.
