Bengaluru: Man trampled over by elephant in attempt to click selfie

Bengaluru: In a vague attempt to click a selfie next to an Elephant, 28-yr-old Abhilash V was trampled by the elephant after he trespassed into Bannerghatta Biological Park on Tuesday.

According to the police sources, sales representative Abhilash, a resident of south Bengaluru’s Basavanagudi trespassed into the Biological Park on Tuesday along with his friends.

So far, the park authorities claim Abhilash might have been trampled by the rescued temple elephant named Sundar. His cell phone was recovered from the scene and now the Police is carrying out investigations into the incident.

He was the only son to VasanthKumar a BMTC conductor. The victim was working with a sim distribution company in Koramangala.

One of the victims relative claimed Abhilash knew several mahouts and often visited the forests.

Amit Singh, SP Bengaluru Rural said a case of trespass has been filed.

Since it was a holiday on Tuesday, the Biological Park staff left for their homes by afternoon said the authorities.

The elephant was rescued from a temple after years of abuse by the PETA authorities who later transferred it to the Biological Park.

Meanwhile, the PETA members claimed it was too early by the Park authorities to decide that the rescued animal killed the victim.
