Kolkata, January 21: Congress minister Manoj Chakraborty, who has been given the go-ahead to quit the Mamata Banerjee ministry, said Saturday he was resigning as he could not accept the “insult” heaped on him with his portfolios taken away.
“I cannot accept this humiliation. I was neither taken into confidence in the process of decision making nor was I given any specific responsibility during all these days,” he said.
In a ministerial reshuffle Monday, Banerjee took away the portfolios of parliamentary affairs and small and cottage industries from Minister of State Bhattacharjee and gave him charge of only food processing.
Enraged, Chakraborty shot off his resignation to Congress president Sonia Gandhi, general secretary Rahul Gandhi and Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
He also called the chief minister a dictator and questioned her performance.
