Islamabad, April 18: Former prime minister Benazir Bhutto was a brave and charismatic leader, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) President Senator Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain said on Saturday.
The former prime minister, talking to a private TV channel, said the UN report on Benazir’s assassination did not declare former president General (r) Pervez Musharraf to be the murderer of the former prime minister. Shujaat said the PML-Q supported the repealing of Article 58 2(b) due to some compulsions and suggested that the power to appoint the chief of the army staff should rest with the president.
The PML-Q president said that the name of NWFP should not have been changed, as the name was being used since the partition of the sub-continent. Shujaat told the TV channel that the education department should be controlled by the federal government. The former prime minister disclosed that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif was kept in an A-class prison after the 1999 military coup and said Nawaz expelled him, Mian Azhar and Ijaz-ul-Haq from the PML-N despite the opposition of Khawaja Saad Rafique and Javed Hashmi.
