Beijing: Blast near US Embassy, No casualties reported

BEIJING: A suicide attempt outside the US Embassy by a woman was foiled after the Chinese Police took care of the suicide attempt on Thursday.

The woman suspect was attempting to self-immolate after spraying herself with gasoline outside the Embassy, Global Times reported amidst reports of an explosion in the vicinity.

According to witnesses reported by Reuters, they heard an explosion near the US Embassy and also witnessed eight police vehicles near the embassy.

A Reuters witness also stated that he saw Chinese police examining a vehicle outside the embassy while social media shows pictures of smoke in the area and close to the compound for visa appointments.

However, it is still not clear if there had been an explosion, while the staff of Indian and South Korean embassies near the Embassy said they were unaware of the incident.
