Beef ban is not religious but political issue to create violence

G Ramakrishnan, CPM state secretary criticise the BJP government and the RSS at the Centre for endorsing the beef ban in Maharashtra and Haryana.

As per reports in the New Indian Express, the newly elected Politburo member said that the saffron parties would never gain political domination in Tamil Nadu with such ideals.

Ramakrishna, speaking at a beef carnival organised by the Students Federation of India (SFI)and Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI), referred to the BJP as a party that demolished the Babri Masjid and subsequently politicised the issue.

“Now they are trying to split us along caste lines and incite communal violence by banning beef,” he said.

Perspective of saffron brigade that Islam brought beef eating to India was false, said Ramakrishnan.

“From the Vedic period, there is proof that beef was eaten by everyone including Iyengars, Iyers and Dalits,” he said.

Ramakrishnan slammed the Central government for giving approval to the ban on beef in two States, because it was affecting an Rs 3500 crore export business and a source of revenue for the Centre.

“Even cricketers and sportspersons are told to eat beef because of its high calorie and protein content which you will not get from sambhar rice,” he said.
