B.Ed qualifiers get political backing

Hyderabad, November 16: About 7,000 B.Ed candidates who qualified in the DSC-2008 but lost an opportunity to get a job because of 30 pc quota given to D.Ed candidates received support from various political parties today.

At a public meeting organised by the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) and the AP B.Ed Students Association here on Monday, leaders from political parties pledged to fight along with the B.Ed candidates till they received the appointment orders.

“The government which gave a jumbo recruitment notification just before the elections unmindful of the consequences, is now finding itself on a sticky wicket regarding the selection process,” said T Devendar Goud, senior TDP leader. He opined that the government had committed a serious offence by violating the notification rules issued earlier.

Still, accommodating the B.Ed qualifiers shouldn’t be difficult as many posts would have fallen vacant due to retirement and also there were many schools in rural areas which desperately require teachers. “I will definitely raise this issue in the Assembly,” he said.

Telangana Joint Action Committee (TJAC) convener Prof M Kodandaram said he was in touch with government officials and they had informed him that there were vacant teachers posts which could be filled with the B.Ed candidates if the government wanted to. “It has been decided that an all-party delegation will go and meet the chief minister on this issue. I hope that it will be solved soon. If this does not work, then we have other forms of protests to pressurise the government to resolve the issue,” he said.
